Broadview Community Youth Group

The Broadview Community Youth Group is a new charity formed by members of the Co-op with members of the community.  The plan is to have the BCYG operate programming for youth between 5 and 17 years of age for the community, using the Common Room as the home base, but sometimes programs will be held in other locations as well.  Even though all programming will be open children and teens from the entire community, the first priority will always be Co-op youth.  Right now, the BCYG will be operating summer and winter holiday camps, plus regular weekly programming beginning in March, with plans to expand to more programs and clubs over the next few years.  Youth that are 15 and 16 years of age will be invited to participate in the group’s leadership training program and help as volunteers.

The BCYG evolved out of the 1050 Kids Camp, a program started in 2003 with the help of a grant from the federal government to pay for two counsellors to work with the kids all summer.  Under the new charity, the camp has a chance to grow larger than ever and extend out into the community.
